This is the 2nd group of 3 from the series. The one right above has a piece of plexi with the image of the columns stamped on it. There's about a 1/4" of space underneath so the image cast a little bit of a shadow behind it in the right lighting.
I've got one more in the works and will post it once it's finished.

These are 3 pieces out of a series of 7 that I've been working on for the past year or so. I'm hoping to have the 7th one finished before too much longer. These aren't completely finished as they still need to be put under glass & framed. They're all shadow boxes approx. 2 " deep (tho some are a little deeper), which isn't easy to tell from the photos. The "Lost in Space" actually has two levels of depth to it. The assemblage arts yahoo group I belong to, recently had a series of conversations about how to refer to their artwork, needless to say I found it very interesting as I had been wondering that myself since these pieces are part collage, part painting & part assemblage. So I guess I came to the conclusion that I'd call them assemblages, since they are somewhat 3 dimensional. As another kinda qwinkydink, the new challenge for the group is to create, "a tribute to the future of the past", I'm not sure these quite fit but I think they're sure in the ball park.
